What a product image is for
It is not an archive master. It is a selling tool at a known pixel width. Keep RAW/TIFF offline. Ship WebP that matches the largest PDP viewer.
Why it matters
- PDP LCP is almost always the main image.
- PLP multiplies one SKU image by 20.
- Supplier files arrive as sRGB JPEGs at 5000 px.
How to do it
- Collect the current live images or studio exports.
- Convert in batches of 100: 80% quality, 2048 px max for heroes.
- Spot-check the first free download on a phone, then unlock the ZIP.
- Replace on the store. Keep alt text and filenames stable if feeds depend on them.
Settings that work
White-background pack shots tolerate 75–80%. Lifestyle on dark scenes: 82–88%. Swatches: 300 px / 85%.
