Email is not the browser
The email client whitelist is smaller than the web. A WebP that looks perfect in Chrome can show as a broken icon in Outlook desktop. Do not 'modernise' a newsletter the way you modernise a homepage.
Why it matters
- Broken images kill campaigns.
- The landing page *can* and *should* be WebP.
- You still want small JPEG/PNG in the inbox (≤150 KB each).
How to do it
- For email: export JPEG quality 70–75, width 600–800 px (typical template).
- For the campaign landing page: convert the same originals to WebP 1600 / 80%.
- Host landing-page WebP on your site, not as email attachments.
Settings that work
Inbox images: 600 px wide is the historic safe width. Retina emails can use 1200 px JPEG ~80 KB.
