Lossy is a choice
JPEG is already lossy. WebP is a better lossy. Lossless WebP exists but is rarely what you want for photos. This converter's quality slider is the same idea as Photoshop's JPEG quality.
Why it matters
- Stakeholders fear 'compression'.
- A/B visual checks beat forum arguments.
- The savings headline on a batch is the business case.
How to do it
- Convert one hero at 80, 85 and 90.
- View on a phone and a laptop.
- Pick the lowest quality you cannot distinguish, then batch.
Settings that work
Photos 75–85. UI 88–92. Avoid <70 except for decorative blur.
