Photographer Portfolios: WebP That Still Looks Like Film

Portfolio sites fail PageSpeed because they are galleries of 3000 px JPEGs. WebP at 85–90% on a 2000 px long edge keeps grain and skin; the page just stops being 20 MB.

Web is not print

Your print master stays in Lightroom. The website is a proof. If a client needs a full-res file, send a download, do not hang it on the homepage grid.

How to do it

  1. Export from Lightroom at JPEG 90, then convert to WebP 86–90, max 2000 px — or export TIFF/PNG and convert once.
  2. Check a dark frame and a skin tone on your phone.
