Food is high-frequency detail
Highlights on sauce and grill marks need a bit more quality than a blue-sky travel shot. 80–84% at 1600 px is the sweet spot. Do not ship 4000 px camera files.
Why it matters
- Users are often on 4G outside the restaurant.
- Google Business and the website share the same bad originals.
- Menu PDFs are a separate problem; page photos are this one.
How to do it
- Convert interiors, dishes and team shots in one batch at 80% / 1600 px.
- Logos stay SVG or 90% WebP.
- Replace on Wix/Squarespace/WordPress as you already host.

Dark restaurant interiors: 82%. Bright brunch: 78–80%.
